The terrorist who blew up the Murry Federal Building in Oklahoma City (April 1995) was:

    A. Osama
    B. A random Arab Muslim guy
    C. Saddam
    D. A random white guy

The man who terrorized the country during the Atlanta Olympic games (1996) was:

    A. Osama
    B. A random Arab Muslim guy
    C. Saddam
    D. A random white guy

In the London subway, police shot and killed (2005)

    A. Osama
    B. One of the men responsible for the terrorist attacks
    C. Saddam
    D. A random Brazilian guy because he was guilty of "looking Arab while running away"

    During WWII, we interned
    A. Osama
    B. All people whose ethnic origins was in Axis countries: Germans, Japanese, Austrians, etc.
    C. Saddam
    D. Only the Japanese Americans, because they looked different and were easy to spot. In spite of this, many went to fight against their homeland and die because they loved this country and believed in its ideals in spite of its flaws.

I'm not saying that we should be completely blind to the fact that right now, Muslim extremists (mostly young males) are the greatest threat to our national security, not 80 year old women. However, we must also be careful we do not repeat past mistakes and allow racism to become part of our national security strategy. As I said in my post on a related subject, we cannot sacrafice our way of life in our attempts to protect it from outside challenges.

    Mike-

There is a lot of evidence that Atta was involved in the OK City bombings (certain information that a certain president's state dept. would not allow the FBI to get their hands on that has been coming out lately), as was a former Iraqi military officer. The london subway incident and the case of japanese internment are not cases of terrorism.

Well, you certainly piqued my interest...I'd like to read more about those, though most of the evidence I've found in my preliminary research is from fringe newspapers and consipiracy theory websites. I like a good conspiracy theory, however, so I'll have to read more. Forgive me if I'm skeptical of "intelligence reports" of questionable origins, but they've already taken us into a war on false premises. But I digress...

I did not mean to imply if the internment and subway incident were cases of "terrorism"; rather, they are mistakes made by governments relying too much on racial profiling and making assumptions based on race. Its a dangerous road to go down; while I think we need to use a little common sense in our security, impimenting any strict policy based purely on race is simply un-American.
