The relief effort was actually faster than previous ones

Yeah, I know it seems like it is accepted by everyone now that the federal government took fooooorever to help out New Orleans. But read this article and you will understand how it was actually faster than many other hurricane recovery efforts of the past

Though he makes a few good points and I will not debate that help arrived faster than in other natural disasters, I think the American people simply expected better following Sept. 11th. We have been warned time and again since then that our cities may be under attack and that we should be prepared. To see our government, at least from outward appearances, sit cluelessly and helplessly on its hands the way it did and to not even be aware, for instance, that thousands were trapped in the Convention Center when the media had been reporting it, is just plain frightening.

Plus, as I argued on the Dems blog, the real issue with many people is the apparent remoteness the administration had towards the whole situation. While that (and nothing) should take away from those brave souls who are helping on the ground, it is certainly a valid reason for the continued discontentment.

Wow you guys will defend the fed, the administration, and bush to the very end, won't you?

Will you even admit that perhaps the hurricane relief could have been managed and organized better? Or do we need to praise the gov't for simply turning their head slightly toward LA?

Oh come one. I could put that right back at you... in fact i think I will.

Wow you guys (democrats) will attack the President and every single thing he does to the very end, won't you?

Will you even admit that perhaps the evacuation in New Orleans could have been better managed and organized better? (As evidenced by the hundreds of school buses sitting in flooded waters because they weren't utilized)

Or, do we need to praise the state and local gov'ts for fearmongering and criticizing anyone except themselves in an effort to shake off any form of personal responsibility? Anyone would be ludicris to stand by that suggestion.

Ignoring the fact that George Bush was being refused help by the LA Governor and her incompetence, that the mayor of New Orleans could have done so much more (instead he shaked off responsibility and blamed others for not helping), and that anyone who then attempts to defend those blatant and unfair attacks on the President is "defending him to the very end" is remarkable. The article posted asked you to look at the situation with open eyes, a simple request that must've just been too impossible for your slanted brain to accomplish.

Responsibility? Right now the responsibility falls on an array of different individuals, groups and big government organizations (aka FEMA). However, when the chips fall and anyone with common sense looks at the law and the sitution that unfolded initially and then again how the situation is at the present time, I'm confident that the President will be vindicated of most of your irrational charges as people are finally able to return to their homes.

No I believe we have admitted when we like things Bush does. We also have praised the CR's also on our blog, see http://www.smartbluehens.blogspot.com/2005_09_04_smartbluehens_archive.html#112596327990434960

I can't believe that the one time Bush admits his failures (see the news anywhere today), you guys still are defending him in every capacity and in every way.

    And you talk about objectivity?
