More than Qualified...

Samuel Alito Jr. has been appointed to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) by President George W. Bush. Aside from being a Italian-American who is from the same mid-Atlantic Region we live in, here's a little bit of his brief resume.

• Educated at Princeton
• Law Degree from Yale
• deputy assistant to the Attorney General in President Reagan's administration
• Judge, U.S. Cout of Appeals for the Third Circuit since 1990.

Since becomming a justice at the third circuit, Mr. Alito has been fair and impartial. He's failed to legislate from the bench and has offered opinions that have been cited even by former Chief Justice Rehnquist. As a scholar of constitutional law and one who interprets it stricly as it was originally intended, Justice Alito will make an incredible SCOTUS justice.

Whereas Harriet Miers failed to have a paper trail that could be brought up in discussion, and the fact that she had never been a judge, Samuel Alito Jr. has served in our judicial system as a public servant and his record will be analyzed. However, with the Democratic onslaught against him, even prior to his nomination, one has to question the integrity of the Democratic Party in this process. If they simply wish to attack a candidate because he was the overly qualified pick by a President who happens to be from an opposing party, then they are doing American a disservice.

Instead, all Senators should refrain themselves from staking out a position on how they will vote until after Mr. Alito has been given a chance to testify before the Judiciary committee under oath. In the time being, as his record is delved into and his written opinions analyzed, I'm confident that the American people will begin to see just how qualified of a Supreme Court Nominee Samuel Alito is.

Why the War on Terror IS like World War II

Which part does he think is untrue of the enemy? That they aren't fascists? Well, admittedly, the term has lost much of its currency from overuse by much of the left to be applied to everyone who disagrees with them on almost any conceivable subject, so let's call it totalitarianism instead (a term that I would hope that Mr. Simon would agree also applies to our enemies in the second world war). If that word can't be applied to people who want to run every aspect of everyone's daily existence, will brook no dissent, and have no apparent value for human life, as the Jihadis objectively do, then to whom does it apply? And even if you want to imagine that the "secular" Saddam didn't support the "terrorists" (one would have to disregard the Salman Pak training camp and the bounties offered for attacks on the Israelis to buy that one), he was as totalitarian (and fascist) as they come.

And part of the totalitarian ideology of Al Qaeda is that there shall be no ideology before theirs--ultimately, all the infidels must convert or die. That we aren't first on the list is a matter of political and military necessity, not an indication of any solicitude toward our ultimate fate. Does he really believe that it isn't their goal to "take over the globe"? From the standpoint of the threat, if they (and Saddam) are not the Hitler of the MSM mind, it's because they're Hitler in 1935, instead of Hitler in 1941. But while he made many strategic mistakes (which were his ultimate undoing, as hopefully will be the case for our new totalitarian adversaries), he didn't make the strategic mistake of attacking New York in 1935, as Osama did in 2001.

It would have been a lot easier to deal with Hitler in 1935, which is one reason why our casualties are counted only in the low thousands after over four years of war, instead of the large fractions of a million that it took to defeat our totalitarian enemies six decades ago, for all that the media would make of them.

Seven Stories Press, a small publisher, pulled together interviews conducted via email that Chomsky gave in the three weeks following the attack on the Twin Towers and rushed the book to press. His controversial views were hot, particularly overseas. By early December 2001, they had sold the foreign rights in nineteen different languages. The book made the bestseller list in the United States, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, and New Zealand. It is safe to assume that he netted hundreds of thousands of dollars from this book alone.

Weare, New Hampshire (PRWEB) Could a hotel be built on the land owned by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter? A new ruling by the Supreme Court which was supported by Justice Souter himself itself might allow it. A private developer is seeking to use this very law to build a hotel on Souter's land.

Justice Souter's vote in the "Kelo vs. City of New London" decision allows city governments to take land from one private owner and give it to another if the government will generate greater tax revenue or other economic benefits when the land is developed by the new owner.

On Monday June 27, Logan Darrow Clements, faxed a request to Chip Meany the code enforcement officer of the Towne of Weare, New Hampshire seeking to start the application process to build a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road. This is the present location of Mr. Souter's home.

Clements, CEO of Freestar Media, LLC, points out that the City of Weare will certainly gain greater tax revenue and economic benefits with a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road than allowing Mr. Souter to own the land.

The proposed development, called "The Lost Liberty Hotel" will feature the "Just Desserts Café" and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in America. Instead of a Gideon's Bible each guest will receive a free copy of Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged."

Clements indicated that the hotel must be built on this particular piece of land because it is a unique site being the home of someone largely responsible for destroying property rights for all Americans.

"This is not a prank" said Clements, "The Towne of Weare has five people on the Board of Selectmen. If three of them vote to use the power of eminent domain to take this land from Mr. Souter we can begin our hotel development."

Clements' plan is to raise investment capital from wealthy pro-liberty investors and draw up architectural plans. These plans would then be used to raise investment capital for the project. Clements hopes that regular customers of the hotel might include supporters of the Institute For Justice and participants in the Free State Project among others.

Typical Liberal University Silencing...

As a Conservative College Republican, I've had to deal with a liberal professor's attempt to hush me time and again. Whether it be through filibustering an entire class, spewing radical liberal ideology by cutting off my attempts to propose the conservative views on the topic at hand. Or be it through straight up telling the class that conservatives are bigots, dumb, haters, irrational, racist and even stupid... the ultimate goal of University leftists is the same: silience those who don't have the same views. As opposed to diversity, they'd rather everyone believe the exact same thing (as long as it conforms to their way of thinking), rather than to think outside the box.

In Intelligent Design Proponent an Outcast at own University, biochemist Michael Behe is regularly the target of such "siliencing methods." Although his book "Darwin's Black Box" was a best-seller, Behe is routinely turned down for grants and denied time and again to have his research and Intelligent Design-related work published in mainstream scientific journals.

Why doesn't get get the grants? Why is he denied by left-wing bigots who claim to teach unbiased science to have his research reproduced and read by scientists across the country? Why does his own department "actively and forcefully" condemn him and his work outright? A simple answer: FEAR.

As one who's read a good part of "Darwin's Black Box," along with parts of Michael Denton's "Evolution: A Theory in Crisis," and "Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel, I believe FEAR is what drives scientists to relentlessly, and unabashedly (not to mention blindly) defend the paradigm that is evolution.

Scientists today who simply dismiss the scientific theory of intelligent design with no more than a quip or anti-creation/anti-God one-liner, are no better than those in Plato's cave. Liberals who like to preach "tolerance" and "openness" should practice what they preach and be more "tolerant" of opposing views and theories they don't understand, and ought to be more open to learning about them. It's the least the can do. After all, unlike the day-to-day liberal indoctrination of university professors in spewing anti-Republican, anti-Conservative, anti-Christian, and anti-Democracy hatred, the theory of Intelligent Design isn't being shoved down their throats.

News Journal Drinking Game

In response to the incredibly shallow Wilmington News Journal article about a Desperate Housewives drinking game, I thought up a drinking game to play while reading the WNJ. Because I'm a little too young for alcohol, and y'all shouldn't be drinking that much of it either, I suggested a distinctively Delaware drink to use for each one.

1) If the WNJ disguises an opinion piece as a front page story, down a Wawa Iced Tea. If they try to get away with it by labeling it "Analysis", upgrade to a Lemonade Iced Tea.

2) If more than 2/3 of the letters-to-the-editor are liberal, treat yourself to a black-and-white shake at Charcoal Pit.

3) If the WNJ criticizes DSU for drifting away from their historically black roots (i.e. letting in too many whites), down a glass of Fresh Squeezed Lemonade form Auntie Anne's.

4) If the WNJ criticizes UD for not letting in enough minorities, sip a mocha latte in front of the fireplace at Panera Bread.

5) Throw back a Big Gulp at Mohammed's 7/11 the next time Ryan Cormier mentions a drunk person.

6) If the WNJ wastes space by publishing a shallow article promoting something sleazy, drink a Flavor of the Month shake from Jake's Hamburgers.

7) Have a Blizzard from Dairy Queen whenever the News Journal invents a controversy.(Does prison health care or Katrina victims living near a sex offender ring a bell?)

8) Guzzle some Trader Joe's Wild Blueberry Juice the next time Ron Williams attacks the firefighters.

9) If the WNJ tries to stir up racial tensions, have some Milburns' Apple Cider. If it comes during Black History Month throw in an apple cider doughnut.

10) Finally, any time the WNJ shows a liberal bias, drink some Delaware tap water (and watch your health plummet quickly.)

North Korea Decline

Negotiations over North Koreas nuclear weapons program are, once more, stalled. The north refuses to allow inspections and disarm before it gets a nuclear power reactor (which would take several years to build). Meanwhile, signs of rot in the North Korean police state continue to appear. These include more crime, especially burglary and robbery. There's more corruption, with even some secret police (the core force in keeping the communists in power) taking bribes. Discipline continues to decline in the army, as does readiness (because of little training with heavy equipment, and lack of spare parts for maintenance.) It's looking more and more like Eastern Europe two decades ago. It's not a question of if the north will collapse, but when.

My question is what will become of North Korea. Will the South reunite with a country in shambles, ala East and West Germany? Hopefully, for the starving masses of North Korea, victims of communism, this happens sooner rather than later.

10 Terror Plots Foiled since 9-11

The White House said they included a failed effort in 2002 to use hijacked airplanes to attack "targets on the West Coast," and a similar plot on the East Coast in 2003.

The 2002 plot appeared to be the most significant disclosure, and counterterrorism officials said Thursday evening that it had been led by Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who is said to have been the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks. He was captured in Pakistan in 2003.

In an unusual move, Mr. Bush named Osama bin Laden, the Qaeda leader, five times in his speech, and quoted Mr. bin Laden's own statements to support the president's argument that terror groups inspired by Al Qaeda were trying to "enslave whole nations and intimidate the world," starting in Iraq.

"They achieved their goal, for a time, in Afghanistan," Mr. Bush said of the country that was Mr. bin Laden's sanctuary until the American-led invasion in the fall of 2001.

"Now they've set their sights on Iraq," he continued. "Bin Laden has stated: 'The whole world is watching this war and the two adversaries. It's either victory and glory, or misery and humiliation.' "

Mr. Bush compared Islamic militant leaders - at one point he used the phrase "Islamo-fascism" - to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot, and said their ideology, "like the ideology of communism, contains inherent contradictions that doom it to failure."

Possibly the scariest Supreme Court ruling in my lifetime, Kelo v. City of New London, is already being used for somewhat nefarious purposes, as Washington D.C. is using it to build a new ballpark:
